Introduction to Observational Drawing with Marlowe Lowe

Register through CCC at 607-936-5501 or online at https://www.corning-cc.edu/register-non-credit-course. Drawing is the most fundamental tool in any artistic practice. It is a way in which to express ideas and spark the imagination--a process of seeing, analyzing and depicting/translating forms and spaces, real or imagined, into a two-dimensional image. The goal of this course is to engage students in technical theory and skill building exercises that will challenge them to consider different concepts of what it means to “see” or perceive the world around you.

"World War I had a profound impact on the literary and visual culture of the combatants. Decades of optimism and faith in the progress of human societies--or at least modern, Western societies--was shattered by a war that few thought possible. This illustrated lecture explores the relationship between the experience of World War I and the artists who sought to make sense of that experience." --Dr. Charlie Mitchell (Image: "Symphony of Terror" by Claggett Wilson)

They welcomed submissions from all current and former residents of Chemung, Schuyler, Steuben or Yates County, N.Y. Poems were then selected and printed in the Community Foundation's Annual Calendar. The end result was simply beautiful and they would like to share this gift with you.
